Collection: Tinctures

What is a Tincture?

The simplest definition is a concentrated extraction made from suspending a plant in water and alcohol (my tinctures are cane alcohol-based). After a specific length of time, the alcohol and water extract the beneficial components from the plants. The mixture is strained, then bottled.

What are the Benefits?

  • absorbed immediately when placed under the tongue
  • requires no digestion
  • flexible dose administration to best suit your needs
  • long shelf life
  • the most beneficial part of the plant in a concentrated form, in an easy to use, and portable container

There is alcohol in the tinctures?!

Yes, the alcohol in our Tinctures is cane-sugar-based. This is a minimal amount per serving (similar to Kombucha and a very ripe banana) and can be safe when used properly. This is where consulting with your trusted medical source is key. Some examples of medical sources may be your Family Physician, Midwife, Chiropractor, Naturopath, or Osteopath. If you are at all concerned, you can reduce the alcohol content by placing your tincture dose in hot water or tea and let in sit for 1-3 minutes.

How do I know how much to use and when?

Tinctures are concentrated herbs. Your body may need a lower dose and a higher dose all within a short period of time. This is where communicating your needs and goals with your medical professional is key. Be sure to share your health history, allergies, sensitivities, current prescribed medications, and lifestyle.

The universal suggestive dose is 6-20 drops under your tongue, in juice or water 2-3 times per day. Adjust as needed. Shake before use.

Consult with a medical professional before use, especially if pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18.
