Diverting oneself looks like…

Diverting oneself looks like…

Rocks! Diverting oneself looks like spending hours sorting rocks, specifically Lake Superior Agates.

In my world the ‘Agate’ is a prized-gemstone. For Christmas Matt got me a t-shirt that says, ‘Distracted by Rocks’ I have been that was since I was a little girl. Forever looking down trying to find that next treasure.

My pockets are filled with rocks, cup-holders in my truck have rocks, window sills in my house have rocks…(you get the idea!)

Our precious Minnesota is in turmoil. Families are torn apart and children are scared. There is chaos AND communities organizing. There is violence caused by our government AND there are grassroots-folks that are making a difference. We stood up-showed up-and shoved our way into the spotlight.

Uff-da! We are tough! BUT…it has been WEEKS of the unknown and we are getting weary. Reminders EVERYWHERE to take care of yourself while you take care of your neighbor.

I am not in the ‘thick-of-it’ by any means and I will FOREVER be grateful to those that showed bravery by protesting and marching in the streets. I’m doing my part in smaller ways. Spending my money supporting small businesses, writing emails, making phone calls, and donating products of mine like my ‘Birth Ready Boxes’ to pregnant women.

On the days where my mind is racing and I just can’t seem to find the ‘light’ I retreat to my Studio. My space to create, a distraction from Social Media, but most importantly a space to breathe.

I hope all of you find ‘space to breathe’ whether that is going for a walk, chatting with a friend, sipping a cup of hot tea, or giving your beloved pet a hug. We all need light…
